To Work or Workout -- That is the Question

To contact us Click HERE
That IS the questions isn't it?  It isn't so much whether to be a couch potato or workout.  It isn't whether or not to sleep in a little later and forego the workout.  No -- the real dilemma is whether to work or work out.  As a stay-at-home mom and blogger, the hours for work can be limited, so when there is a chance when the kids are asleep or occupied, I want to work.  I want to write and photograph and format and WORK.  I don't want to fire up the treadmill and run while I have the chance.  seems like a waste.  ...until I put my jeans on.  Then I realize that perhaps that 20 minutes on the treadmill would NOT have been a waste.  Yeah.
SO what is the solution?  Well, I don't know about you, but I need to trick myself sometimes and offer external motivations for myself.  How?  Well, in this case, it is new clothes.  New workout clothes to be exact.

I don't know about you, but new workout clothes "weigh heavy" on my closet the way a $20 bill weighs heavy in my coat pocket.  You know how it is.  That $20 sits there, your hand clutching around it every time you grab chapstick, just begging in its little money voice "Spend me!  Spend me!".  (This is why those little budgeting envelopes of cash are NOT good for me!)  In any case, when I have a smallish bill staring me in the face (or grabbing my hand every time I put my hands in my pockets), I want to spend it.  I want to spend it right now.  ...and typically I keep shopping until I find *just* the right thing to spend it on.
Workout clothes are the same way.  when I know I have new, beautiful workout clothes with the tags still on them, it makes me want to workout.  Like now.  I want to experience the new fabrics, the new colors -- I want to "feel" like I am working out.  I don't want to feel like I am in my pajama shorts with a big baggy t-shirt, SECOND bra hooked up over TOP the t-shirt and bright red socks with my new balance lace ups ready to RUN.  Yeah -- that is drudgery.  ...and I do it (once in awhile) because I want those jeans to fir, but I WANT to do it when I've got pretty workout clothes.   Why?  ...because it makes me feel like I look like THIS:

I see your nodding head.  You are WITH me!

So for all of us that want to work before we work out, we have to shake ourselves up a little and motivate ourselves to do the opposite of what we want to do.  Whether it is motivating ourselves with new workout clothes or simply looking in the mirror and stepping on the scale to our utter mortification, let's figure something out and quit working so much and start working out more.
...and that is why my friends I say THIS.

Your turn to vent!!  Hop on over to the WEIGHT LOSS section of the FORUM (under the kitchen sink) and tell us what makes it hard to work out.  What issues do you have with food?  Does blogging get in the way of your work outs?  Do work outs get in the way of your blogging?  I want to hear from you!
